Crispy Teriyaki Tofu
This is undoubtedly my favourite tofu dish, and probably what got me into eating tofu in the first place. I generally make my own teriyaki sauce these days, but you could also just use ready-made teriyaki. Miguel's original IG post has a recipe for the teriyaki sauce as well, but I tend to make mine simpler. I highly recommend trying it with smoked tofu if you can get it, it's even more delicious!
Ingredients:
- 1 package (200-250g) firm tofu
- 2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ~300 ml teriyaki sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1/4 spring onion (green part)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions:
Cut the tofu in to bite-sized cubes, marinate for 30 mins in a mixture of of soy sauce, sesame oil, salt and pepper.
Mix the corn starch with the tofu, making sure to coat all sides.
Preheat a pan with vegetable oil, sauté the tofu until golden brown and crunchy, turn of the heat and add the teriyaki sauce, sprinkle on sesame seeds and toss to coat evenly.
Chop up the spring onion and sprinkle on top to garnish.
